Poundland Booms in Hard Times Sells for £200 Million

Pound Shops are booming all over the UK. Pound stores, together with discount supermarkets, thrived in the recession as hard-pressed shoppers sought out the best value. But while the fortunes of the discount grocers have gone into reverse over the past year, as the big supermarkets fought back and shoppers’ confidence has returned, Poundland has continued to grow.

The stores break all the rules of retail. Analysts like to see shops offering similar goods at “good, better and best” prices to provide customer choice. They like stores to be focused and inspirational. Poundland charges just one price – £1 – and sells hair grips and books alongside sandwiches, shampoo and sets of pink spanners for women who change their own tyres.

I have found some real bargains in these stores.

Like many families we have to be careful with our money so we always keep our eyes open for BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) offers. Of course you have to be vigilant to make sure that you really are saving money; also we only want to buy quality foods not biscuits and cakes. We also always inspect the Nearing Date Limit section sometimes spectacular savings can be made. We don’t just bargain-shop to save money we also use it as an opportunity to try foods and products that are new to us.

For the similar reasons we are fans of Lidl and Aldi supermarkets who often have healthy and exotic foods for sale at bargain basement prices. So we have savings and have fun too!

Renting DVDs Cheaply

Renting DVDs can become expensive if you forget to return them on time, at the same time I don’t want to subscribe to a monthly rental service. A trick I’ve learnt recently is to buy DVDs instead from Amazon; popular DVDs are often available at ridiculously low prices you are often just paying a little more than the postage which for DVDs is just £1.25.

We buy these DVDs watch them several times (or the kids do) and then give them to friends, no panic did we ever take that rental DVD back?

Big companies list 0870 numbers on their publicity, invoices etc as it earns revenue for them, however in most cases there is also an 0800 number well now there is a free search engine which will reveal these numbers it’s SAYNOTO0870.COM

The site lists many well known companies, and their equivalent geographical numbers.

Alternatives listed for 0500, 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers.

Well I can and more, if I buy say a new Dell PC for myself or for a client and had the sense to beforehand click the Dell Link on a Cash-back Website then I will earn cashback. You might say I’m mean not to pass this saving on, but I would if the client was interested but whenever I talk cash-back I see their eyes glaze over. I can’t even interest my brother that cash-back really is money for nothing!
